I'm Cara, an artist living in the Mitten. Most of the time you can find me hanging out with my dog, Toast. I’m either at my sewing machine in my studio listening to podcasts, or in my kitchen trying not to burn down my house.
My recent artwork is a study on the simplistic elegance of repetitive shape. I use felt to create hundreds of ‘follicles’ that are sewn together to form patterns and designs. The interplay between the follicles and the contrast of shadows from lighting creates inspirations and emotions essential to the artwork. Felt is my medium of choice because it engages the viewer. The texture draws you in and asks to be touched or examined more closely.
